FAGS smell the worst on your breath, a study has found. Researchers unpicked the 20 worst oral aromas and discovered people favoured giving the big kiss off to cigarettes more than anything else. The study found 70 per cent of people can’t even stomach talking to someone who has just finished smoking one. Cigarettes beat garlic, un-brushed teeth and Marmite to claim the top spot in a poll of 3,000 adults. Simon Comins, from Superdrug which carried out the research, said: “When you’re getting up close and personal, there’s nothing so off putting as having to deal with something like bad breath. “Today everyone needs to perform to their best ability in a work setting so we’d advise to look after their dental hygiene – garlic breath at a job interview may make the difference between getting the job or not.” Other unpleasant stenches to make the top 20 include onions, beer, pickled onions, fish, curry and coffee. Despite the findings only four in ten people felt confident telling someone else they needed to address the problem.
