What is the difference between Crest 3D Whitestrips Professional Effects and Advanced Vivid?

These two products were launched as part of the new Crest 3D White Whitestrips range. They are two of the three home teeth whitening kits from within the range that are made from the new ‘advanced seal’ non slip technology.

This is unlike the others that are made from a single layer of whitening strip.

Both kits are made from 4 layers of microfilm that contain the controlled amounts of hydrogen peroxide.

In this case both kits have controlled amounts of 10% hydrogen peroxide on each strip and they are worn for 30 minutes each session.

However here are the main 2 differences:-

1) Crest 3D Whitestrips Professional Effects comes with 6 extra days of whitening strips (20 in total v 14). Therefore Professional Effects are more suitable for darker tooth stains as you get a longer whitening period. 

2) The bottom strip of Professional Effects is slightly longer than Crest 3D Whitestrips Advanced Vivid. So if you have a narrower lower set of teeth then Advanced Vivid would be more suitable.

The difference in price varies from company to company, however we try to keep the differential to about £4 for the extra weeks whitening. Both kits provide very good value for money v a dental whitening.

As a summary, if you have darker yellow stains around the gum line then Professional Effects would be more suitable. If you have pale yellow stains then your choice would be Advanced Vivid.

In both cases it is highly recommended to use a whitening toothpaste such as Crest 3D White Advanced Vivid – Stain Protection as part of the process and your overall oral care. 

If you suffer from tooth sensitivity then the use of a sensitive toothpaste would be advisable.

Procter & Gamble, one of the largest consumer products companies in the world, undertook market research before launching its own product in this category, and used the research to make decisions about the marketing mix as well as its marketing strategy and tactics. This research considers the effect of the marketing research on the launch of Crest Whitestrips.

Procter & Gamble used market research to determine whether there was a need for a whitening product for in-home use, what type of product would be appropriate, and whether that product would fit with Procter & Gamble’s overall marketing strategy. Effectively they have integrated both types of whitening strips into one range, with only the shorter ‘wear’ treatments using the old technology, creating fewer problems. This means that any problems of ‘slippage’ with the old strips has been eradicated.

Gentle Routine is based on the old technology however with minimal tooth contact time and lower hp level, this ‘strip’ allows many clients the opportunity to whiten like everyone else without the risk of sensitivity.

These products are aimed at people who have discoloured teeth, varying from mild yellow, yellow, brown to even red brown tooth stain. They are brilliant, they do not slip, they do not come off, you can drink water, talk and even shower whilst wearing them. As they are the same strength early shade improvements tend to happen after 3 – 5 days with full results in either 14 or 20.

P&G have also kept faith with the original Classic Whitestrips which they have re branded as Crest 3D Whitestrips Vivid. This product fills the gap between Advanced Vivid and Gentle Routine. At 6.5% strength it is a perfect whitening product for people with dull or off white teeth. It is a 10 day whitening treatment based on the old technology. It is very affordable, the results are excellent and don’t be put off by the old technology, they work just like the rest and if your teeth are not that discoloured they provide a really good tooth whitening solution.
